Recap Of the Year...
My reflection of Digital Imaging as a first year student has shown my progress just from the beginning of the year. Especially improvement from my first project to all that I can do now. My holy grail is the eraser tool and the burn tool...there is so much you can do and all the effects you can add make these two tools my favorite. Will all these skills newly learned I was able to create my favorite project which was my caricature of Beyonce and the Vans shoe project. The form that I created with Beyonce was clean and well designed with the aid of layer styles, patterns, and clipping masks. On the flip side of things, my worst pieces that I've created was the Turpin emoji and the Superhero cubism project. I think both designs could've been better and more developed ideas. At this point in time I wish I had known about clipping masks for the emoji project. Clipping masks create shapes more cleaner and adds a more defined line around the piece. I feel that the superhero project had my sister as the emphasis and that the picture needed to be a higher resolution so that the original image didn't get so distorted and lose crucial features. From knowing what I do now, I think that in the future this class will help me because I've learned a lot about proportions with having to combine elements but keeping the focal point consistent. Another way this is useful through this class I've learned A LOT about color and how its such a vital tool to create emphasis and unity in your piece. Overall I had fun in this class and loved all the freedom we had in our projects. But, mainly in the beginning of the year, I felt lost on some projects as to what we had to have in our projects. Over the year I think the course developed and progressed just like the students did and this problem eventually buffed out.
I strongly suggest to take Digital Art classes if your school has them. My friends told me to take this class and I've loved every minute of this. All I was looking for is space filler in my schedule and I'm so glad I chose this class. My goals in this class are to create art the express who I am in a different way than what I'm use to. I'm not a very "tech-y" person so I hope to get better with computer software!
Artist Statement For Emoji Project
My goal is to have a emoji that has a universal meaning and that everyone will understand. I think that through colors and shapes I will be able to have a design that incorporates Turpin and the students as well. I plan to use the elements of art like line, color, texture (bevel and emboss), and shape. Through this it should create a design that is unified and on that everyone can understand, even when it’s the size of a dime.

Questions Asked and Answered
1. What is your overall impression of this class so far? What have you liked? What have been your struggles?
This class is very confusing...I often times find myself wandering what I have to do or if I have turned in a assignment. Just never know if I have done all the things that are required. Also with the way we turn things in I can never remember or go back and see if I have turned in the project or not. Other than that I enjoy this class and the freedom we have with our art. Also the flexibility Ms. Sand has with our projects (e.i. if the computers have a problem).
2. How well have you participated this semester?
I feel like I participate a lot in class and raise my hand a lot. I feel that Ms. Sand and I have constructive conversations during class. I always participate in activities and do them to the best of my abilities.
3. What are you looking forward to most for the second semester?
During the second semester I look forward to using more Photoshop techniques to increase my skill sets. I feel like we have learned a lot already and the more I know, the better my projects get. I'd also look forward to using illustrator as another software.
